...to be a leader
DeMolay offers a lot of opportunities for leadership. Chapter members plan their own events under the advisorship of adults. That means we do a lot of the planning and a lot of the work. Organizing events requires someone to be "in charge". The leader of the Chapter is called the "Master Councilor". He is the DeMolay in charge of the Chapter for a term of six months. There are also leadership opportunities at the State and International level!
...to make a difference
Every Chapter does a lot of community service, and helps out people who need it. In the past we've helped out in Wisconsin with causes such as Special Olympics, Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, and several other local causes. This year, we are focusing on Hope Lodge in Marshfield, WI. We are currently raising funds, and there are several opportunities for you to lend your aid.
...to travel
We take a lot of trips in DeMolay, mostly on the weekends. How does this make you a leader? Well, you'll get the chance to make friends and contacts all over the state. With the brotherhood in DeMolay, these friends will be men you'll be able to rely on for the rest of your life - no matter where you may end up.
...to learn to speak in public
We all know how to talk to our friends, and sometimes even how to communicate with our parents, but what about giving a speech to hundreds of people? If you want to be taken seriously in any field of endeavor, you'll need to learn how to speak to a crowd. DeMolay provides countless opportunities for it's members to get out in front of their peers and adults and express themselves in a confident and inspired fashion.
...to plan any event that you want
Want to take over city hall for a day? How about take a tour of Lambeau Field and talk to the business people who run it? If you have the desire to plan something, the advisors in your Chapter will work with you to help your realize your goal. How cool would it look on your college application that you've coordinated events for over a hundred people in high school?
...to make yourself better
While all the traveling, leadership, and fun is going on, DeMolays are becoming better men. Everything we do focuses on our development into becoming good citizens and productive members of society.
